Old Pasadena Loft Kitchen

  • Location: Pasadena, CA

Kitchen Renovation:

Initial Condition:
Old kitchen appeared worn and tired, with cabinets not extending to full ceiling height, creating an awkward atmosphere

Design Solutions:
– Extended height of cabinetry to maximize storage potential, addressing the lack of adequate storage space
– Introduction of rolling library ladder for both form and function, enhancing accessibility to high storage areas

Lighting and Finish Selection:
– Abundance of natural light facilitated the choice of a dark finish for cabinets
– Custom door style with brass detail around the frame added uniqueness and sophistication

Client Preferences:
– Client desired a dramatic look and incorporation of brass elements

Unique Features:
– Hammered brass farmhouse sink and split finish plumbing fixtures introduced for visual interest and functionality
– Extension of gold tones throughout the kitchen via gold-finished unfilled travertine random mosaic tile, balancing glamour with organic appeal
– Architectural metal shelving installed above the sink, providing additional opportunities for displaying decorative items
