Legends 2015 Parties at the LCDQ

Legends 2015 - LCDQLA

The Legendary Legends 2015 Parties

There is nothing more in demand during Legends than invitations to the parties around the LCDQ, and this year there was no shortage of parties to attend.  As an ambassador of the event, I was in attendance at all the official parties, and what a thrill it was to traverse  from showroom to showroom, sipping signature craft cocktails and nibbling on amuse-bouches along the way – all in the company of the most stylish people in the business and in the chic showrooms on La Cienega.

Design editors, designers, bloggers, design enthusiasts – they were all there soaking up the excitement and inspiration that emanated through the air in the LCDQ during the annual 3 day event.

The first stop was Lee Stanton, where party goers gathered before heading over to the invitation only  Legends Gala event next door.Lee Stanton - Pre-LCDQ gala partyLee Stanton 1

Legends Gala at STK

The Legends Gala is the signature event that opens up the 3 day event. The red carpet (orange in this case, in keeping with LCDQ colors) was rolled out for this event and in true (West) Hollywood tradition, guests snapped photos in front of the step and repeat as they entered the party.

Blogger Breakfast and Legends 2015 Kick-off

While the Legends Gala kicked off the 3 day event, the Blogger Breakfast kicked off the first day of design panels, with bloggers, designers, and media gathering to energize for the long day ahead. As always, lots of business cards were exchanged and new relationships were made – all while sipping on mimosas and surrounded by beautiful bath fixtures.

House Beautiful Cocktail Party Introducing Editor in Chief, Sophie Dow

It was so much fun seeing Sophie Dow installed as the new Editor in Chief at House Beautiful.  I first met Sophie last spring when she interviewed me on camera at High Point Market for a segment on market trends as a correspondent for Editor in Large.  There is no doubt that she will excel in leading where Newell Turner left off and I look forward to the added energy and enthusiasm that she will bring to House Beautiful.

Tribute Party at Sherle Wagner

Upon entering the Tribute Party, I was greeted by these two women in white flanked by mylar printed images of David Bowie and created by L’Esperance Design.

As with every party I attended, I ran into friends and colleagues at every turn and mingled while perusing all the beautiful bath vignettes in the showroom.

Elle Decor After Party

As the evening progressed, so did the risqué factor.  It was great on shock value because Therien, a showroom which houses priceless antiques is the last place I would have expected to find a trio of fire-eating leather strap bikini goers…or bubble and leather clad women navigating the room blowing bubbles.

Hearst Design Group Party with Moore and Giles

Cocktails being served from an Airstream is always a fun way to finish off an afternoon of design panels. As always, the Hearst Design Group knows how to entertain a crowd. Held in the Harbinger parking lot, which was reimagined as an early evening, summer backyard soirée, guests mingled while sipping on cocktails (Yes, a good hand crafted cocktail, in addition to design, is another common theme running throughout Legends)

Finale Party

From the Harbinger parking lot, the party shifted to Marc Phillips for the Finale Party to close out Legends.

As you can see, Legends at the LCDQ is just as known for the never ending stream of parties as well as the windows and keynotes held during the 3 day event. It is an event that I look forward to every year because not only do I learn and am inspired from the many design panels, which fuels my own passion and work, but it gives me a chance to visit the showrooms and network with people in the business on a local as well as national level. Legends 2015 was great and I’m already looking forward to Legends 2016!
