Legends at the La Cienega Design Quarter
Every year at the beginning of May I get excited about attending Legends at the La Cienega Design Quarter. This year will be extra special as I was asked to serve as one of nine Legends Ambassadors for 2015. Now in its seventh year, Legends is a 3 day event held in the La Cienega Design Quarter (LCDQ), which brings together the country’s top design editors, interior designers, bloggers, and tastemakers to celebrate design through networking, cocktail parties, keynote panels, book signings, and exhibitions.
This year’s event promises to be an inspiring event with a celebratory gala kicking off the festivities on Wednesday evening.

On Thursday and Friday, the excitement continues with keynote panels led by magazine editors from around the country that will take place in various showrooms throughout the LCDQ – some indoors…
and some outdoors in one of the many outdoor courtyards in the LCDQ, and every one packed to capacity.

In past years, I have attended book signings, (below by Susanna Salk introducing her book C.Z. Guest American Style Icon) as well as many inspiring and thought provoking panels. A keynote panel I attended last year titled “9 Ways the Internet Turned Interior Design Upside Down” included former Rose Queen, actress, activist, and native Pasadenan Sophia Bush.

The Windows of Legends 2015 Celebrating “Where Muses Dwell”
In addition, each year celebrated designers from around the country design the showroom windows that line the streets of the LCDQ. This year the theme is “Where Muses Dwell” and 57 designers will bring their inner muse to life in their designated LCDQ window.
Some past Legends windows:

The windows are in fact, one of my favorite things about Legends, as I love to see how each designer interprets the theme and works it in with the particular space they are assigned. To see the full list of participating designers, their showrooms, and muses, visit: http://lcdqla.com/legends-2015-window-designers/
Last year I was asked by LA designer Erinn Valencich to hand render her window concept for the Egg & Dart showroom that appeared on Dering Hall before her actual window was revealed to the public. I was pleased to see that the rendering did resemble her actual window, but unfortunately it seems as though I am a better illustrator than photographer.

In short, if you are a design enthusiast, Legends is an event not to be missed. For the full schedule of events and info on VIP passes, visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/legends-2015-where-muses-dwell-tickets-16087554308
In the event that you are not able to make the event, follow along with me and the rest of the Legends Ambassadors, as we share our “musings” during the event on our social media channels.
See you in LA May 6-8 at the LCDQ and get ready to discover your inner muse!
