Karastan SmartStrand Silk Forever Clean

At last -you can drink red wine on your white carpet without a worry in the world.  A few years ago this was not possible, but the arrival of Karastan’s SmartStrand into the marketplace in 2005 was a game changer.  Well, that has all changed again with the recent arrival of Karastan’s SmartStrand® Silk™ Forever Clean™ carpet which adds a special layer of Nanoloc technology to SmartStrand’s existing stain protection, making cleaning easier.  The average consumer  initially looks to appearance and finish when selecting a carpet, but when making a final selection, they note that durability and performance are equally as important.  This is where SmartStrand Silk Forever Clean outperforms its competitors. Unlike traditional nylon carpet which uses a topically applied stain treatment to block stains, SmartStrand’s stain blocking technology is incorporated into the fiber at the molecular level, so it does not wear off and it cannot be separated from the carpet fiber.  With traditional nylon, acid and alcohol tend to break down the stain treatment, and when it wears off, stains can penetrate the  fiber and your once white carpet will absorb stains. Because Karastan’s SmartStrand Silk Forever Clean stain resistance combines built in protection with a nanotechnology spill barrier, the protection never wears or washes off and cleaning is easier than it’s ever been. White carpet remains just that – white.  In addition, SmartStrand Silk Forever Clean is eco-friendly and sustainable, as it uses a renewable bio-based corn (the first of its kind) and in doing so saves oil. Beauty, durability, performance, eco-friendly – what’s not to love?

Karastan SmartStrand Silk Forever Clean in Action

While recently visiting with Mohawk and Karastan (Mohawk is Karastan’s parent company) at the New American Home as a part of BlogTourVegas, a demonstration was given of how SmartStrand Silk Forever Clean stain protection works, and you must see this short 2 minute video to believe what it can do.

Karastan uses SmartStrand Silk Forever Clean carpet in white to illustrate it’s stain resistant properties, but SmartStrand Silk Forever Clean is available in a wide range of color options and textures, many of which I saw at the New American Home along with other  Mohawk and Karastan carpet and flooring products.  Their broadloom carpets can be used in a wall to wall installation or cut and the edges bound to be used as an area rug as was done throughout the New American Home.

Karastan SmartStrand Silk Forever Clean allows the consumer to live beautifully with no worry.  Kids, pets, spills, messy spouses are no problem.  Several years ago my husband was scolded by a friend for bringing a glass of red wine into her living room which had white upholstery and white carpet.  Clueless as can be, he had no idea why he was sent back to the kitchen to finish his wine until I whispered in his ear “Red wine stains white carpet.”, but after reading this post I’m sure he’s going to forward this to her and suggest that she invest in Karastan’s SmartStrand Silk Forever Clean carpet, as life is too short to lose sleep over a glass of spilled wine.  See – you CAN have your white carpet and red wine too!
