Attention design aficionados! Westedge Design Fair returns to Santa Monica for a second year and brings a curated selection of leading brands and manufacturers from around the globe.  Westedge Co-Founders and Show Producers Troy Hanson and Megan Reilly travel the world to vet the best and most innovative exhibitors in furniture, lighting, kitchen, bath and design for the home, and for 4 days in October the newest introductions from over 150 exhibitors will be on view  in one central location.  Designers, editors and tastemakers will be among those in attendance and the general public is also invited to attend October 17-19 (Friday-Sunday).

I attended last year’s inaugural event and was most impressed by the caliber of exhibitors and product that was on display. Below are a few snippets of what I to my Instagram feed last year:

To commemorate the opening night party to benefit Heal the Bay, Dallas artists Gregory Miller teamed up with Brenda Houston to create,  “The Bay. Nocturne”  a mixed media installation consisting of ceramic pieces, metal, agate and ammonites.

David Trubridge incorporates the technology behind the Philips Hue color changing bulb to design his  propeller shaped lighting installation at the entrance of Westedge.

The Foundation Shop, specializing in high end, custom furniture designs,  named their “Green Street” sofa after Green Street, a prominent street that runs through the main throroughfare of my hometown of Pasadena.

La Cornue,  one hundred years and three generations, brings their coveted collection of handmade Chåteau and  CornuFé cookers, and last year they even had their Flamberge Rotisserie – a real treat to see in person!  Here’s a quick look at their space from last year’s Fair.

In addition to an impressive list of exhibitors, Westedge Design Fair offers both designers and  the high end consumer the full design experience by incorporating full custom installations, discussions, panels and workshops on a wide range of design topics and trends. Topics for the consumer include “Style for the the Entertaining & Holiday Season” and “Innovations in Kitchen and Bath Design” while workshops such as “How To Get Published” and “Haute Design: The Intersection of Fashion, Trend and Home Decor” might appeal more to the Design Professional.  See the complete list of panels and workshops HERE.

Opening Night Party to Benefit Heal the Bay

On Thursday October 16, WestEdge will celebrate its opening night with a venue-wide cocktail party to benefit Heal the Bay, one of Southern California’s leading environmental nonprofit organizations.  “WestEdge Design Fair celebrates the Southern California lifestyle,” said Ruskin Hartley, president and CEO of Heal the Bay. “The event is a great fit our organization. We are excited that proceeds from the event will help underwrite our work to keep L.A. beaches clean, healthy and safe for millions of visitors.” I will be at this event and will be roaming the show floor on Thursday afternoon, so if you happen to see me, please say hello!!!
