Color was trending on the red carpet of tonight’s 2014 Golden Globe Awards. Clean, bright and very saturated, color dominated the full length of the red carpet. A few highlights of the color at tonight’s event:
ORANGE is the new BLACK
Those who claimed that orange was the new black were not kidding. Orange seemed to pop up at both ends of the red carpet and everywhere in between – definitely a popular choice which we will most likely see more of in a few weeks at the Oscars.

COBALT BLUE
When Pantone announce their color of the year, I was shocked that “radiant orchid” was selected instead of what I thought was the sure winner, cobalt blue. Despite not being the Color of the Year, cobalt made a much noticed appearance on the red carpet and those who chose to wear the trendy color set themselves apart from the crowd and were no doubt noticed by all.

BLACK AND WHITE – simple and color blocked.

RADIANT ORCHID – Pantone’s Color of the Year 2014 makes an appearance on the red carpet!

And my two favorite picks of the evening did not sport a bright and saturated hue, but instead was spot on with the subtle metallic trend.

I hope that you all had a chance to see all the beautiful dresses making their way down the red carpet tonight. What was your favorite dress of the evening?
On a side note, I am pleased to announce that I was asked to serve as one of eight moderators for the popular G+ Interior Design Community. As a moderator, I will co-host the popular Hangouts on Air every Friday afternoon (1 pm PST) along with my other colleagues. Our first live Hangout on Air was this past Friday and our next will be this Friday, January 17, where we will be talking to Wayfair.com about their newly initiated designer program. This is just one of the many things in the works -more exciting things to be announced shortly!
Nice recap of the colors and the dresses! Hmmm, looks like orange is going to be a big color for spring especially since cosmetic companies are also showing lots of orange lipstick. Which dress was your favorite?
Lisa- Remember back in the day when only a certain type of person could wear orange? Thankfully that is no longer the case and orange has been one of my favorite colors. Lots of orange was seen roaming around High Point both last spring and fall and I’m sure this season we’ll see even more! Hmmm…I can pull off an orange top, dress or shoes, but not so sure about lipstick. As a matter of fact, definitely not, but I guess as the saying goes – “never say never…” Hands down, my favorite was Laura Dern’s dress -the intricate detail… Read more »
