Eye on Pasadena: Lemmon Hill

After writing about the Pasadena Showcase House a couple of days ago, what better way to follow than to write about another Pasadena treasure, Lemmon Hill.  Lemmon Hill is an upscale boutique for the home that sits on a beautiful tree lined street surrounded by other upscale boutiques and cafés, in the affluent neighborhood of San Marino.
Upon entering through the front door, I was greeted by a display of the most vibrant shades of cobalt blue, the color du jour in the world of interior design.  Normally, Pasadena is a somewhat conservative community, where most houses are decorated in shades of beige and ivory.  However, thanks to Lemmon Hill owner Cathy Arkley and showroom manager Maria Grimaldo, and their fresh approach to color, I find that people are starting to get a little bit more adventurous with the color choices in their homes and are willing to experiment a little.

I immediately fell in love with all the cobalt blue accessories when I walked in the store – especially the intricately beaded and embroidered pillows, as they reminded me of me sourcing embellishments in my past profession.  I loved how the turquoise accents subtly tied back into the color on the wall and other items placed throughout the boutique.

…And this blue coral sculpture – perfect for those with a house at the beach or perfectly at home here in  Pasadena.  So chic and so current.

The color on the wall is the most delicious shade of aqua/turquoise, which compliments the other colors represented in the store.
…And who doesn’t love an alligator magnifying glass? Mine!

The gold/brass shimmer of the items in the next two shots along with the delicate roses shown below  remind me of the soft, colorful, and feminine side of the Art Deco trend, brought on in anticipation of the movie, “The Great Gatsby”, which starts today.

This chandelier made of chains hangs in the center of the boutique – what a show stopper!

…And some less colorful items, but equally as stylish.  I especially love the encapsulated jellyfish, which I spotted as I was leaving the store. Great alone, but better in a group!

When you have a chance, stop by Lemmon Hill to see the treasure trove of chic and stylish finds for the home for yourself. For those of you who are not so fortunate to live in the Pasadena area, take a peek at their website and online store!

In a bit I am headed out to attend another day of Design Legends 2013 at the La Cienega Design Quarter.  Yesterday I had so much fun networking with other fellow design bloggers, listening to talks by legendary interior designers Phillip Gorrivan, Ron Woodson and Jaime Rummerfield of Woodson and Rummerfield’s House of Design,  and I even heard Susanna Salk talk about her newest book, “C.Z. Guest, American Style Icon”.  All in a day’s work!  I’ll be sharing all my window shots (prominent designers from around the country designed and installed the window displays at participating showrooms along the La Cienega Design Quarter) along with some pictures of the other cool finds I came across meandering in and out of showrooms all day.  Sit tight and I’ll get that info to you in a post next week.  Until then, I hope the weather is fabulous where you are – have a great weekend!
