Where does inspiration come from? Well for me and one particular project, it all started with the picture of this little (and very colorful) bird that I came across on Pinterest a while back. Whenever I’m inspired by what I see online, I automatically pin the pictures I come across onto one of my many Pinterest boards. Before the days of Pinterest, my inspirational tear sheets were stored in one of several piles on my desk or in files in a drawer, very rarely looked at, and shuffled from pile to pile until they were eventually thrown out in the trash when I could no longer take the clutter. With the birth of Pinterest, my creativity has flourished, as I am able to glance through my files with very little effort, and on a daily basis. Because of the accessibility to the things that inspire me, at any given moment my head is always overflowing with ideas.
This week I will be visiting the Pinterest headquarters in San Francisco as a part of Alt Summit, so it is only appropriate that I show you how Pinterest has sparked my creativity and has contributed to me being a better designer. As most designers, I am an extremely visual person and am a much better reader of pictures than words. Let me show you what what pretty little things and ideas popped into my head from just the image of this one lone but very colorful bird (and a little help from Pinterest).
